AC Repair in Alpharetta, GA

Twenty-nine free-flow minutes east across Arnold Mill Road. Before anything else, an honest word about what that drive means when you call us at two in the morning.

The honest version of how far away we are at 2am

Every drive time we quote is free-flow routing with no traffic model in it, which means every one of them is a floor rather than a promise. On most of our service area that caveat is academic, because the route is interstate and the difference between the floor and the reality is a few minutes. This run is different: it is a two-lane state road most of the way, it has no interstate alternative, and it is the corridor where a wet night or an incident changes the number the most. So when you call here after hours, we will tell you what the drive is actually going to be rather than repeating a figure off a map. Sometimes that means saying that a shop closer to you will get there sooner, and we would rather say it than have you wait on a truck that is still forty minutes out on a dark two-lane. If it is a no-cooling emergency in a house with somebody vulnerable in it, ask us that question directly on the phone. You will get a straight answer.

The same thing is true wherever you are

A refrigerant top-off with no leak search is not a repair. Refrigerant is not consumed — if the charge is low, it left through a hole, and it will leave again through the same hole. Any shop can sell you a pound of refrigerant on a hot afternoon and you will be pleased with them for about six weeks. We will find the leak and price fixing it, and if you want a charge to get you through a weekend while you decide, we will do that too and tell you plainly what it is buying you. We also will not quote a repair over the phone. Anyone who does is quoting a part they have not seen on a system they have not measured.

Questions people ask

  • How fast can you get here?

Often the same day during business hours. Nights, weekends and holidays we run an emergency rotation and a technician calls you back. Comfort Club members get scheduled ahead of non-members, which is most of what people join for in July.

  • Do you charge for the diagnostic?

Yes, there is a flat diagnostic fee for a service call, and we tell you what it is on the phone before we dispatch. It is waived for Gold and Platinum Comfort Club members.

  • My system is low on refrigerant. Can you just add some?

We can, and on its own that is a bad deal for you. Refrigerant does not get used up — if it is low, it left through a leak, and it will leave again. We will find the leak and price the repair. If you want a charge to get through a weekend while you decide, we will do that too, and tell you plainly what it is buying you.

  • Repair or replace?

The rule of thumb we actually use: if the repair is more than about a third of a replacement and the system is past twelve, replacement usually wins. Under that, fix it. The refrigerant a system uses moves that line too, because an older refrigerant on a leaking coil changes the arithmetic.

  • Do you work on systems you did not install?

    Yes, on any residential brand.
